Can you say Special?

While those who did not venture to the Westside yesterday would never believe it, John and Dave upheld the institution and all that is "WESTSIDE" last night as we ventured "off Pisse " to enjoy all that mother nature can offer on a quite April 8th evening. Johnny's bowl was prime! powder runs galore. The base was frozen and we excelled!!!!

Mother nature sure has been good to us, hasn't she Deano? You know what they say one man's poison .... Any way we the keepers of the trails want you to know that last night was even better than the last. While we have promised not to judge others, Dave believes that there are times you should not prioritize friendship and membership over other things like couch time. After all what good are we to our families if we do not commit to ensure our health. (Oh well they can spend it while your 6ft under).

Yes Dave it is true we are here for a good time, but not a long time.

Sorry you missed it boys and girls. There is always next year.

Let's schedule the bike clinic night.

Westside

PS - Special shout out to Tracy Steinbach - "You guys are insane". - Trace -You got that right sister! Crazy like a Westsider!

News Flash - Weather and Jeff

B

More fluries predicted West side weather cam shows strong base.

Jeff is Back!!!! Some might remember Jeff Bailey as the resilient skier who returned after an injury only to last less than an hour and be laid up with a ACL injury. Well you heard it here - Jeff is returning for a three-peat. Of course we hope he is not injured! Jeff you really have the West Side Spirit!!!! Dean - your responsible for this guy! WWBCS is not responsible for any injuries caused by the "volunteers" who willing take the risks to participate in our extreme sport outings. The founders nor the participants are liable for any of their actions. For those with a short memory you maywant to view the video brief of Jeff and his fateful fall in 2006.

Big Night

Big day for a Ski !!!!!! Thanks to Mikal we have the stats. Dave, John, Rich,
Dietmar, Tom, and Mikal head out for a big one. Deep and controllable. Actually
quite warm and misty as the night went on. Doctors pass hill poses a challenge for
all as only DD and Tom make it down. Can you say deep?
Mikal sets a new Blue Run jump record with 9.1 m and proceeds to fall. We all try again.
We all end the night at Cabana with our host Dave and Toast to the best birthday
ski for me.
John P.
PS Dean you missed a good one.

Missing Doug

Johnny,

Thanks for the great write-up on Doug.  I actually miss him already, I had a lot of good times visiting him over the past couple years.  It’s our job to make sure those bastards at the city keep up with their promise to keep his land as true green space for hikers, bikers, joggers, etc. and not just another urban park.  It’s too bad we didn’t know Doug when he sold the land to the City.  I’m sure he would have sold it to us with the same commitment to preserve it.  At $200,000 for the 60+ acres I think we could have raised the dough – then we really could have had a full blown outdoor club.  Maybe we could have called it the McNally Mountain Bike and Back Country Ski Club – proprietors: The West Side Boys.

It’s too bad we all had work responsibilities after the funeral – Johnny and I would have happily spent the whole afternoon toasting Doug’s spirit with Jim Brickman.  The picture of Dean drinking a beer is pretty incriminating –but I can vouch for him that is actually non-alcoholic.

Cheers - Tommy
